On the 2nd June, the 10th Company band travelled to Stoke-on-Trent for the Showcase Marching Bands competition. They put in a stellar performance, and finished in third place in their category! Saturday 24th saw members of the 8th, 9th and 10th companies turning out to the Westoe Village Fete, to promote our work in the town and to engage with the community. Many young people came and tried their hand at the snare drum, and had a look over our uniforms and programme packs; hopefully some of them may start turning up at our weekly sessions over the next few weeks! This year, the South Shields Battalion had two bands partaking in the Summer Festival Parade (formerly the Cookson Parade) - both the 8th South Shields and 10th South Shields performed. The 10th led the parade, and as a part of this they performed a part of this season's display set in front of the Town Hall; the 8th were sixth in the running order.
